Overview

The Senior Director Marketing Data & Analytics plays a critical role in building and continually advancing the company’s ability to analyze data effectively to inform critical business decisions. This role is responsible for measuring how marketing programs are performing on an ROI basis vs. key performance indicators; aggregating data provided by cross-functional teams throughout the organization and providing analysis and recommendations based on data; and reporting Marketing performance to executives and other key external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute analytical measurement techniques to gauge the effectiveness of brand initiatives and campaigns, and make recommendations for future optimization

  • Work closely with key business partners to build the framework and lead high-impact data analytics projects to support key strategic initiatives and decision making

  • Understand and measuring all stages of the customer acquisition funnel from awareness through graduation

  • Communicate actionable insights and craft compelling stories using data focusing on “what it means”. Make recommendations for future execution and drive informed decision-making

  • Define “metrics that matter”, and create insightful and automated dashboards to measure performance and to track key business metrics. Provide Marketing leadership team with ongoing analysis for marketing investments, pipeline impact and goal setting

  • Facilitate quarterly/monthly marketing metrics review meetings

  • Create and maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly campaign performance reports to provide key learnings and feedback for the Marketing team

  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an operational, business intelligence, and/or analytics role in an advertising agency or a consumer marketing oriented company with an in-house marketing team

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading both internal and external cross-functional teams in the execution of marketing programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred

  • A relentless executor, his or her reputation should be as a persistent, but diplomatic, ambassador for the marketing organization at large

  • Experience with Business Objects, Google Analytics, Coremetrics and CRM systems preferred

  • Ability to wrangle, synthesize and derive insights from disparate data sources and, in turn, communicate persuasively at the executive level. Experience with developing and monitoring key performance indicators from integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns

  • Deep familiarity with data analysis, list procurement, list management, and list cleansing

  • Custom report development experience, such as dashboards, campaign reporting and lead reporting

  • Proven experience working well with others to maintain and build cross-functional (internal and external) relationships including agency partners, internal clients and influencers

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced Excel, Access, and PowerPoint skills

  • Creative problem solving ability

  • Ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously

  • Experience and comfort working in a large, matrixed organization

  • Comfortable with changing business priorities
