The Senior Director, Brand Marketing leads the development of brand and institution programs, initiatives, and segment objectives, integrated go-to-market plans and strategies for University of Phoenix (UOPX). The individual leads a team of integrated brand marketing strategists (Directors and Managers) and Media and Brand Partnership marketing strategists, responsible for creating, refining, evaluating and optimizing business and marketing go-to-market plans designed to build the business, generate demand and drive revenue. The Senior Director, Brand Marketing directs internal cross-functional teams, partners with channel, creative and marketing operations teams, as well as external resources, to deliver on objectives, including the analysis of brand success and return on investment (ROI) to incorporate insights into future program planning. The individual initiates development of tools, templates, systems and processes that improve team efficiency and accuracy.


  • Lead and orchestrate the Brand Marketing team to successfully develop strategies, objectives and integrated go-to-market plans for UOPX; direct and optimize annual integrated marketing and business go-to-market plans, including budgets, integrated media/channel plans, and Public Relations activation

  • Lead B2B strategy and go-to-market plan and works directly with UOPX E2B team to drive results with leading corporate employers; lead analysis of performance of all programs’ performance, including cost-per-lead ROI; utilize analyses to determine future plans.

  • Prioritize go-to-market plan efforts to ensure most significant impact to UOPX is achieved; design sustainable approach(es) for prioritization, simplification and focus; partners with Strategy & Insights team to refine targeting and enhance go-to-market plans and communication approach.

  • Lead the efforts of internal cross-functional teams and external agencies to ensure quality, on-time delivery of marketing programs across multiple channels; lead strategy development, orchestrate the development of creative briefs, and facilitate integrated campaign/program plans including, but not limited to broadcast, print and digital advertising, mail and email campaigns, website and social media, public relations and events/trade shows.

  • Facilitate, prioritize and synchronize content needs for institution, initiatives, and segments for the relevant sections of the web site.

  • Provide oversight of performance and tracking reports for marketing programs, leading team to optimize campaign activity for continuous improvement.

  • Select, mentor, coach and evaluate administrative staff; establish and monitor appropriate employee performance objectives; prepare and present employee performance reviews; implement mentoring and coaching plans, or disciplinary action, where appropriate.

  • Shared management of P&L to successfully identify and set direction to meet identified KPIs as outlined above.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Marketing, Business or Communications field required

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, including eight 8 years of integrated marketing experience required

  • Mix of consumer and B2B required

Additional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience with education and/or service industry preferred

  • Experience leading both internal and external cross-functional teams in the design and execution of go-to-market plans and demonstrated success in designing integrated, omni-channel go-to-market strategies and activation plans, as well as developing integrated demand-generation plans

  • Demonstrable competence in designing programs/campaigns including the ability to define a target and develop positioning, messaging, features, benefits, value propositions etc.; conduct post program/campaign analysis inclusive of ROI and articulate a reason for continued or initial investment

  • Experience working with and managing P&Ls

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively articulate business/product strategies, influence outcomes and lead through influence
